The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society returns to their new home, the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater! Join the Society for an evening of suspense, horror, and hard-boiled humor, performed in the style of an old-time radio broadcast, including vintage commercials and live sound effects. It’s an “entertaining and creepy homage to an era gone by” (Cherry and Spoon) brought to life by veteran Twin Cities performers Shanan Custer, Joshua English Scrimshaw, Tim Uren and Eric Webster “using their voices to paint a picture so vivid that if you close your eyes you can see the action in your mind's eye.” (Stages of Minnesota)
“Dracula’s Guest” from Dead Men’s Tales: Lost in a mysterious cemetery, Jonathan Harker fights for his life against an unknown foe. Eric Webster’s adaptation of the deleted first chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula!
“Red Six” from Rip Roaring Adventures: Doctor Van Helsing leads a last ditch attack on Castle Dracula! Tim Uren reimagines the climactic final chapters of Dracula as a thrilling radio adventure!
“Farewell, My Bloody” from Jimmy Montague, Antiquarian-for-Hire: A madman named Renfield lures Jimmy to an insane asylum where he must confront demons from the past and vampires from the present! Joshua English Scrimshaw continues his hardboiled retellings of supernatural classics with this latest installment in his MORLS original series.
Tickets are $18
Doors are at 6:30 PM, come eat and drink in the theater before the show!

PREVIOUS PRAISE FOR THE MYSTERIOUS OLD RADIO LISTENING SOCIETY:
“Shanan Custer, Joshua English Scrimshaw, Tim Uren, and Eric Webster have this down cold — not just the technical aspect, but the tone… Chilling as it might be to experience these tales (complete with old-school ads) alone in the dark, it’s much more fun to experience them with a crowd.” -City Pages
“An artisanal, old-school way of making entertainment... The fun is in watching these fine actors work almost exclusively with their voices … and to see them create a sepia-toned world with handmade sound effects.” - Pioneer Press
“The glow of the old radio sets the stage and seeing how the sound effects are created adds so much more than just hearing them. The cast of Joshua English Scrimshaw, Tim Uren, Eric Webster, and Shanan Custer are all extremely talented and hilarious, taking on multiple voices and characters. If you have recently become interested in radio or audio drama through podcasts, why not see a recreation of how radio drama was at the beginning with The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society.” -Twin Cities Stages
“This show is an entertaining and creepy homage to an era gone by, that of the radio drama. The creators of this show have a podcast of the same name… and their love for and knowledge of the genre is evident… There's a reason these radio horror shows were so popular, and happily they continue to exist in some form today thanks to Ghoulish Delights.” -Cherry and Spoon
ABOUT THE MORLS:
The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society performed their first staged old-time radio recreation in 2016 at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis. Since then, they have appeared at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Daleko Arts in New Prague, and the Wabasha Street Caves in Saint Paul. Their recreations were also featured monthly from 2017 to 2019 at the James J. Hill Center and from 2020 to May of this year at Park Square Theater in Saint Paul. The MORLS is thrilled to call the Bryant-Lake Bowl our new home!
ABOUT THE PODCAST:
The Society’s live performances are inspired by the podcast of the same name. The Mysterious Old Radio Listening Society Podcast revisits the great crime, horror and suspense shows from the golden age of radio, including tales from Suspense, Lights Out, Quiet Please, The Shadow, and more. Each episode features a classic, or maybe-not-so classic story from the mysterious old-time radio vault, complete with historical notes and nerdy trivia. At the end of each podcast, your hosts, Tim, Joshua and Eric discuss the merits of the story and decide whether or not it stands the test of time.
