Once upon a time, Community Ed’s Amy Stedman and Pat Schmidt were performing improv at HUGE and Nancee Magistad was in the audience. After Nancee recovered from a bout of laughter, she was hooked. “I have got to work with those two!” she said to herself.
Yada, yada, yada, Community Ed with a Side of Just Nancee (CEWASOJN for short) was born and combines the improv talents of Amy and Pat, better known as the world-renowned duo Community Ed, with the stand-up je ne sais quoi of Just Nancee. Let’s just say if Carol Burnet and Amy Schumer and Community Ed had a baby, it would be a medical miracle. It would also result in an sketch-comedy-improv-song/dance variety show the likes no one has ever seen! Ok fine, but not for the past year.
Amy Stedman and Pat Robinson Schmidt met in 2012 after Pat's daughter introduced them. Recognizing their chemistry after taking a duos improv class, they formed Community Ed in the Spring of 2013. Amy and Pat play Marg and Carol Lyn, best friends who come together on stage to peel back layers of dysfunction and personal chaos that define their reality.
As for Nancee, she started making people laugh by plagiarizing Muppets jokes in 6th grade. Knowing she was a kid and the statute of limitations would expire before she turned 18, she did not get sued by Hoberman-Lieberman Productions! Whew! Fast-forward (ahem) a couple years and Nancee now performs stand-up, and writes/produces comedy and sketch shows at Bryant Lake Bowl, Honey, The Phoenix…and Zoom during pandemics.
