Rituals for Nothing - Dance Film Watch Party

  • Bryant Lake Bowl 810 W Lake St Minneapolis United States (map)

Join us for the dance film version of Rituals for Nothing / prayers to no god. This 30-min dance film is based on a performance on the banks of the Mississippi last fall. Featuring one beautiful river, seven exceptional dancers, and lots of grief. It's now available online, but isn't it better to all cry together? Gather with us to watch the debut, then hang out with our feelings after.

Rituals for Nothing is for our griefs, for our beloveds, for the circularity of time and the gaps we live in. We are asking questions about ritual, loss, the gap between ourselves and the dead, ourselves and this land, the people, the history, the future, ways of seeing time, geologic and cosmic, pilgrimages and seeking, lies and divining, bringing down the stars, and the immense magnitude of care that is woven all around; we weave it backward and forwards too.

Featuring the incomparable Judith Howard, Krista Langberg, Sam Johnson, Jeffrey Wells, and Sylvan Madaus Derenne dancing alongside Monica Thomas and Theresa Madaus. With dramaturgy by Charles Campbell, lighting by Heidi Eckwall, and support by Matt Regan. Filmed and edited by the incredible Katinka Galanos with additional filming by Patricia Healy McMeans. Created by Theresa Madaus and Monica Thomas in collaboration with everyone/everything.
