Juniper is a comedy storytelling show by multi-disciplinary artist Monica Coleslaw. Starting at the moment of her birth (with pictures) and continuing into the present, the show finds Coleslaw examining the effects of growing up caught between various American identities - ethnicity, culture, vocation, consumption, etc. - and the many ways that said experience can wear you down. Combining depressing realities with an over-the-top slideshow and expert comedic timing, Juniper finds humor in the strangest parts of Coleslaw’s story - and manages to be shocking, emotional, and introspective without ever forgetting to be hilarious.

Audience Reviews:
Knowing Monica is to know someone who is endlessly entertaining and absurdly quick-witted. To see her perform Juniper was entirely transcendent - her storytelling and comedic abilities naturally culminate in an immersive experience of her world, one that I was not ready to leave by the end of the show.

Wholly American trauma meets righteous comedy in Juniper, a gripping and hilarious 90-minute showcase of Monica Coleslaw’s singular ability to call bullshit. Parochial school bigotry, biracial loneliness, alcoholism and violence – she refuses to gloss over the gory details of the often painful experiences that shaped her, finding laughs in every fracture. When it gets dark, Coleslaw lights the way by setting fire to the people and places who were foolish enough to stand in her way.
