T2P2 Fall Season: What’s in a Name? With Minnesota Historical Society Deputy Director Kevin Maijala and Former UofM Regent Abdul Omari

  • Bryant Lake Bowl 810 W Lake St Minneapolis United States (map)

As the nation recons with a history of racial injustice, there’s an ongoing conversation about if, when, and how to rename landmarks or structures with problematic or downright racist monikers. Kevin Maijala from the Minnesota Historical Society has led this conversation in regard to a number of historic sites in Minnesota, and former UMN Regent Abdul Omari led these conversations about certain building names at the University. We’ll talk about all this and more, plus we promise not to play, “Name” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
