Mic Crenshaw, Moe Bowstern, and Jay Nevilles come together to discuss the past, present and future implications and impact of anti-racist and anti-fascist movement work.
Moe and Mic are co-producers and co-authors of the It Did Happen Here Podcast and book.
The book and podcast are an anti-fascist people's history. Much of the content of these works is focused on Portland Oregon in the late 1980s and early 90s. What happened in Portland Oregon, in the wake of the racist murder of an Ethiopian immigrant named Mulugeta Seraw, in 1988, was inspired and influenced by youth movements born in Minneapolis, in the Uptown Punk scene in particular. Anti-Racist Action was founded by the Minneapolis Baldies and youth from Chicago and other midwestern cities. It spread to Portland and beyond.
Jay Nevilles and Mic Crenshaw are co-founders of the Baldies. There will be live music by Mic Crenshaw, a panel with Jay, Mic, and Moe, and a Q&A with the audience.
