It's the Monster Science Valentine's show!

Love and monsters! If there’s one thing that millennia of storytelling has taught us, it is that there is no story so completely unrelated to romance that we can’t make it a love story after all. Come and hear about the dating lives of the misshapen creatures from the edges of civilization – Beauty and the Beast stories, satyrs and sirens, what exactly enormous fire-breathing reptiles want with princesses, and many more besides! “I loved this show!!” - Cherry and Spoon.

“Beauties and Beasts and Also the Average-Looking” is part of Monster Science First Thursdays - Reverend Matt’s Monster Sciences ongoing monthly show at the Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater. Reverend Matt – once called a combination of David Attenborough and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark in MPR – played by local comedian Matthew Kessen, is the star of “Reverend Matt’s Monster Science” (‘part science, part comedy, all monsters’), a multimedia series of deep studies of the lore of monsters, infused with comedy jokes. It has won Best Solo Show at the Tucson Fringe Festival twice, and Best of Minnesota at the 2020 MN Webfest. And it’s been called “a guaranteed crowd-pleaser” and “a blazing comet of edutainment” by the Racket, and Single White Fringe Geek said of it, “I could not stop grinning the whole time Rev. Matt was talking.”
