SONGVERSATION: We have been told to smile

  • Bryant Lake Bowl 810 W Lake St Minneapolis United States (map)

Shanan Custer and Rhiannon Fiskradatz stage what they call a Songversation in which they let it all out on a chosen topic through a combination of song, storytelling and sketch. Episode #1 finds them thinking about why men keep telling women to smile and, perhaps more to the point, why this is still a thing. Custer, a seasoned player in the Twin Cities theater, sketch and improv scene, has been called a “clever and inventive voice in comic theater” but she would rather you not refer to her as a “comedienne” because that’s such a weird word. Theater artist and musician Fiskradatz has scoured her repertoire - and the internet - for songs that have something to say on the topic. After a few Zooms and a whole lotta faith, they want to bring this work into an actual theater with actual people in it, preferably one that serves wine and nachos.
